Now offering Anger Management Classes

Family Support Group provides a friendly, supportive environment where single parents can openly discuss the successes and challenges of raising children.  In this group, they can find support and have an open exchange of ideas, information, and resources.  This group meets weekly (Tuesday evenings), is free of charge, and provides a meal and childcare.

Coaching to Permanence

Parent Aides make home visits to families struggling with discipline or other parenting issues.  The Parent Aide fosters change in parenting behavior, helps with problem solving, encourages access to community services, and improves parent child interaction. When the struggles are results of complex trauma, a therapeutic approach by credentialed staff is available to enhance change and growth.

In the Coaching to Permanence  program, parents receive three months of coaching during supervised visits with their children.  Goals: parents re-focused to ‘notice the positives’ in their children; parents demonstrate appropriate use of discipline methods and model overall effective parenting skills. The program offers parenting education and in-the-moment skill training.  Additionally, the licensed clinical social worker assists parents in dealing with issues that impact the ability to bond and maintain attachments. This coaching takes place in a safe environment for all.

To Register:  Call 704-878-2227 and ask for Laurie Trosuk or Nikki Vines.

Family Support Group meets every Tuesday night from 6:00-7:30 pm.

In Parenting Classes, the instructor teaches management, communication, child development, stress management, self-esteem issues, sexual abuse prevention, and infant care. When facilitated by the licensed social worker, the classes develop into a support group as parents process their individual concerns and issues around parenting. The classes typically meet once a week.  There is a small fee to help defray administrative costs.
